The Curriculum Design and Development Cell(CD & DC) of Alagappa University was established in 2012 and functioning under the Chairmanship of the Director, CD & DC. Since its inception, the cell is vibrant and meticulous in structuring curriculum and framing syllabi to instigate innovative and creative talents of National and International standards among students by inculcating knowledge and skills of a higher order. In this regard, a meeting of Chairpersons, Heads of the Departments and members of the Board of Studies (BoS) was convened. Besides, distinguished Professors, renowned Scientists from world-class institutions as well as reputed industrial experts were invited to share their knowledge and experience to redesign and enrich the existing curriculum to meet the global standards.

To elevate Alagappa University as a Centre of innovation and excellence by promoting cheerful learning atmosphere and an ambience of love towards learning in addition to offering a diverse range of knowledge experiences, confidence and life skills.
Mission
To open portals of higher education to economically and socially underprivileged and marginalized rural youth to make them competent to crack opportunities by providing a comprehensive high standard syllabus and enabling them to achieve the mission of the University, i.e., ESTEEM
Aims and Objectives
- To sustain the existing standard and scale up the curriculum by creating an ambience of a student-friendly academic environment
- To review existing curriculum, syllabi, textbooks and reference book as per the quality policies and guidelines laid down the University, TANSCHE, UGC, NAAC and other governing and accreditation agencies
- To serve as a platform for establishing a synergy between teaching, learning and evaluation process
- To introduce need-based innovative programmes and courses and to structure the curriculum, develop syllabi for such new programmes and courses
- To create an environment to share experiences of the learned community for the benefit of the students in capturing opportunities in the National and International arena
- To facilitate the development of teaching modules of global standard based on the curriculum and syllabi designed and developed by the BoS
- To organize faculty recharge programmes to scale up innovative teaching strategies
- To promote the inculcation of heritage and values by enhancing value-based education and Skill development for students
- To develop programmes aiming to augment the general competencies and skills through the formulation of skill-based curriculum
Functioning of Curriculum Design and Development Cell
- Adopting Choice based credit system (CBCS) in semester pattern with a number of elective options including Non-Major Elective courses.
- Reviewing and restructuring of Board of Studies once in three years consisting of International and national experts, coopted members from the Industry/ Service Organization, Student alumni and all the faculty members of the Department concern.
- Conduct of Regular meetings of the Board of Studies to frame Regulations, course structure and syllabi for UG, PG, M.Phil, certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma programmes of the University, affiliated colleges, Directorate of Distance Education and other collaborating centres.
- Conduct of the Adhoc Committee Meetings and preparation of syllabus for new programmes and courses as and when required
- Updating the revised syllabi and other related in the University website
- To liaise with TANSCHE, TNPSC, Directorate of Collegiate Education, State Government, UGC and MHRD and respond
- To organize a panel discussion with subject experts in India and abroad and involve them in designing and developing curriculum for enhancing the quality of teaching and learning and exchanging of expertise for the mutual benefit through knowledge sharing
- Conduct of workshop and training programmes for teaching fraternity to enhance their knowledge in curriculum development, innovative teaching methods
- Introduction of new programmes and program combinations to cater to the needs of the students with high career and entrepreneurial opportunities
- Initiate and carry over the issue of Equivalence to such framed innovative new UG/PG programmes from TANSCHE
- Provision for students to learn online model up to 20% of the syllabi using SWAYAM, NPTL and other portals to widen their knowledge.
- Facilitating the formation of different committees (Academic council, standing committee, Board of Studies, syllabus subcommittee by recommending University Nominees, Subject experts etc.,) to affiliated Autonomous Colleges.
